Xbox Game Pass January 2025 – Eternal Strands and more day one releases arrive in wave two drop
Xbox Game Pass bites back with a major announcement for the service, bursting at the seams with major day one game drops.
by Joseph Kime · The MirrorXbox Game Pass is coming back for another – ahem – pass in January, revealing a number of fresh games for players across every tier of the service to enjoy.
So far, January has been great for gamers who don’t buy games. Don’t be ashamed of it, this is how the gaming industry is now – companies will set up services, like Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus, for players to flock through with rotating rosters of fresh titles, and you can eat them up for as long as you’re offering a monthly fee. It’s a pretty good deal, all things considered.
PS Plus made a huge impression with its Extra and Premium January drop, offering players God of War: Ragnarok in a major first-party delivery, but it’s Xbox Game Pass that is delivering the most in terms of scale, giving players a fresh January drop of games featuring UFC 5 and Diablo, along with the existing January Game Pass titles incoming like Sniper Elite: Resistance. It’s been a big month for subscribers, and there’s yet more to come, as Microsoft has just revealed a major collection of titles (including yet another day one drop) that could include a game you’ve been waiting for. Here’s what you need to know about the Xbox Game Pass January 2025 wave two drop.
Xbox Game Pass January 2025 games – wave two
As revealed in a brand new blog post from Xbox, here’s everything you need to know about the incoming games from the Xbox Game Pass January 2025 wave two games drop, featuring previously revealed titles and new day one releases:

- Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (console) – January 22
- Magical Delicacy (console) – January 22
- Tchia (Xbox Series X|S) – January 22
- The Case of the Golden Idol (console) – January 22

- Sniper Elite: Resistance (console, cloud, PC) – January 30, day one release
- Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox Series X|S, cloud, PC) – January 31, day one release
It’s a lot to prepare for, and though some of these games were revealed ahead of time, the arrival of Tchia on Xbox Game Pass Standard and such a strong collection of day one releases is bound to keep players busy. The day one launches are perhaps one of the greatest draws of the Xbox Game Pass service, so this will no doubt be a strong lineup for many.
Xbox Game Pass January 2025 games leaving
Don’t get too excited just yet because there is, of course, a collection of games set to leave the service, before the year is out. Here’s every game leaving on Friday, January 31:
- Anuchard (console, cloud, PC)
- Broforce Forever (console, cloud, PC)
- Darkest Dungeon (console, cloud, PC)
- Death’s Door (console, cloud, PC)
- Maquette (console, cloud, PC)
- Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem (console, cloud, PC)
It’s a shame for these games to be leaving the service in the Xbox Game Pass January 2025 second wave, but at least there are some bangers incoming to replace them. It’s time to rejig the backlog.
