Kate Middleton's brother James supports 'incredible' sister with carol concert tribute
Kate Middleton hosted her annual carol service recently which was broadcast at Together at Christmas and she received support from her brother James Middleton over the project
by Joel Leaver · The MirrorThere was a message of support for Kate Middleton from her younger brother James Middleton this week over her having hosted her Christmas carol concert.
Princess Kate, 42, hosted the annual event at Westminster Abbey in London earlier this month but the star-studded concert was only broadcast on ITV on Tuesday evening. She was joined by other members of the Royal Family, including her husband Prince William, 42, and their three children.
Other guests included her parents Carole Middleton, 69, and Michael Middleton, 75. Kate was also supported by her siblings James, 37, and Pippa Middleton, 41, at the concert, as well as by a host of celebrity guests who attended it.
James reflected on the experience in a post on Instagram on Tuesday, ahead of the event being televised. He shared a photo of the Together at Christmas concert's order of service, which featured an illustration by Charlie Mackesy.
The post began with a quote shared by Princess Kate at the concert on December 6, which encouraged people to "all shine for each". It reads: "At Christmas, and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other's light."
Sharing his support for the sentiment, her sibling James wrote elsewhere in the caption of his post: "A very powerful message from my incredible sister at special time of the year." He concluded by writing: "Merry Christmas to you all."
Princess Kate's only made a handful of public appearances this year after announcing back in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer. It was then shared in September that she had completed a course of chemotherapy.
Just months later, she was seen at Westminster Abbey for the concert. She was joined on the front row at the venue by her husband Prince William and their kids Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.
Princess Kate said in a voiceover at the start of the televised concert: "Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. It is a time for presents, tinsel and mince pies, but it's also a time to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all.
"It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness - so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.
"The Christmas story encourages us to consider the experiences and feelings of others. It also reflects our own vulnerabilities and reminds us of the importance of giving and receiving empathy, as well as just how much we need each other in spite of our differences. Above all else, it encourages us to turn to love, not fear.
"The love that we show ourselves and the love we show others. Love that listens with empathy, love that is kind and understanding, love that is forgiving, and love that brings joy and hope. It is love which is the greatest gift we can receive, not just at Christmas, but every day of our lives."
