Brad Pitt 'faints' on track at F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix as remarkable footage emerges
A-List actor Brad Pitt was at the Las Vegas Grand Prix to film scenes for his new movie about Formula 1 and footage has emerged of the 60-year-old 'fainting' while on the track
by Matthew Cooper · The MirrorHollywood star Brad Pitt 'fainted' while at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with the actor filming scenes for his new Formula 1 movie ahead of the race.
Pitt has attended multiple races this season to film on location for the movie, which is co-produced by seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and also stars up-and-coming English actor Damson Idris.
And after George Russell sealed pole position for the race in Vegas, Pitt was out on the track to film a scene as his character Sonny Hayes. In footage captured by fans at the circuit, Pitt was seen hobbling away from the scene of a crash before collapsing onto a padded mat on the ground.
APX GP, the fictional team Pitt's character drives for, even released a mock statement addressing the crash. "During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation," it read.
"Incidents of this magnitude are always taken seriously, and Sonny's health remains our top priority. While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow's race as he focuses on recovery.
"The entire team stands behind him, and we'll provide updates when available. Joshua [Pearce, played by Idris] will race solo tomorrow, carrying the team forward."
The movie is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed the Tom Cruise blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick, while the likes of Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies and Kim Bodnia are also in the film.
Hamilton, meanwhile, has been advising the filmmakers in a bid to ensure the movie is as authentic as possible. And producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently admitted that Hamilton's feedback has cost them "more money" due to the changes they have had to make.
"Everything that he has brought to this movie, I cannot even express our thanks to him and all the folks from F1 who made this all possible," Bruckheimer said." The authenticity that he brings, we just cannot imagine what goes into what a driver does and what the sport brings to an audience.
"Sometimes we do not like to hear some of the things he says, because it costs us more money to fix things, but we are all in, we want to make it great, and he is certainly helping us."
