RuPaul has shared a throwback clip of himself 'slapping' Tyra after her posts about the late the Vivienne.

It was announced on Sunday night that James Lee Williams - known by their stage name the Vivienne - had died, aged 32. The news of their death was met with many tributes to the late winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK's first season.

Tyra, 36 - who won the second season of the US version - however posted vile tweets following the news. Some fans have called on RuPaul, 64, to strip the former contestant of her Drag Race crown in the wake of her recent remarks.

RuPaul - who is the face of the franchise, as well as acting as judge on both the UK and US versions - has since posted a throwback clip on Instagram. It showed the host appearing to 'slap' Tyra across the face in a scene that was part of an acting challenge during the final on her season back in 2010. There was no caption on the post shared on Wednesday.

Shortly after the post was uploaded to the platform, Tyra shared an apparent illustration of RuPaul, depicted as a puppet, on her page. The caption read: "Right back at ya. Puppet." Tyra - formerly known as Tyra Sanchez - also issued a message on her Instagram Story.

The message read: "I am immensely thankful to everyone visiting my page this week. Whether showing love or showing your a**, you increased my page's reach TREMENDOUSLY. Welcome to all new followers! Two fingers in the sky to those who have left us. Special shoutouts to the ones who truly hate me yet hang around watching my every move. With you hanging around here you've increased the reach by 95%. Silly rabbits. You work for me. It is because of you that my name LIVES on."

It comes after Tyra - whose real name is James Ross - was met with a backlash a tweet in response to the Vivienne on Sunday. She quote-tweeted a post from 2020 by the late drag artist, which had read: "Bet Tyra was fuming when she realised Netflix spoiled the win too. Sorry gal. You tried though." Tyra replied: "Yet it doesn't compare to the fumes of the crematorium."

Tyra later wrote in another post: "She's dead. Rotting. Sending me all the hate in the world won't bring her back. But do as you must. Because of you the tweet has reached over 25k individuals. Thanks for the much needed attention that I oh so desperately needed."

Amid the backlash from fans and former contestants alike, who branded her "vile" and "disgusting," Tyra wrote in a follow-up post: "Calling for a crown/title that I could give two f***s about is stupid. You're the only ones caught up in that fairytale. It means absolutely nothing. Y'all been hollering 15min for 15 years. F*** that crown. F*** @RuPaul F*** @RuPaulsDragRace F*** @WorldOfWonder and f*** you too!"

Tyra later wrote, seemingly in response to the backlash: "They troll. Hanging around with bated breath waiting for the next tweet. They reply instantly with their hate garnering more attention while increasing the reach of each previous tweet. Yet I'm delusional? You can’t help yourselves. I get it. Silly rabbits."More recently, Tyra prompted even more criticism by sharing a video that had "songs I would play if I owned a crematorium" written over it. The video featured Alicia Keys' Girl on Fire.

The latest development comes after RuPaul had paid tribute to the Vivienne in a post just days ago, which included a photo of them together. The caption read: "With a broken heart, I join the entire Drag Race universe in mourning the loss of the Vivienne - an incredibly talented queen and a lovely human being."
