How to open military convoys in Dying Light: The Beast

Military convoys are a fantastic source of loot in Dying Light: The Beast, but opening them takes a bit of doing.

Dying Light: The Beast introduces guns to the franchise, and if you want it to do more than take up an inventory slot, you’ll need ammo. The best way to find ammo is to visit military convoys, groups of locked trucks scattered across the map. Here’s how to get into them.

How to get into military convoy trucks in Dying Light: The Beast

Military convoy trucks are all locked up tight, and to get into them, you need a keycard for the back hatch and lockpicks for the closed side panels.

You can only get keycards by killing and looting the zombies clad in military gear around the convoy trucks.

There might not always be as many military zombies as there are trucks, but if one of the trucks also has several locked side compartments, opening and looting those counts as looting the truck.

Convoys respawn after a set amount of in-game time passes, so keep a note of any on the route to your next objective.

What you get for looting military convoys

Your primary reason for looting a military convoy is to load up on the ammo they contain. However, convoys are also great for military grade medkits, high-rarity valuables, and on-level, high-rarity weapons.

You can get both melee weapons and guns from the backs of convoys in relatively equal drop rates. As such, I’d almost always recommend stopping by them as you explore, and especially after a big story mission saps your resources.

One thing I don’t recommend is using a gun around a convoy if you can help it, as that will call down the faster, harder-hitting zombies. Taking on the armored military infected while also dealing with sprinting ones is a recipe for a game over, and that’s the last thing you need.
