Xbox reveals ad-supported cloud streaming

Xbox is currently testing the new ad-supported game streaming with Xbox Insiders.

Xbox has announced an update to its cloud streaming service that’ll allow non-Xbox Game Pass subscribers to stream games from their library - with a catch. Xbox has begun testing ad-supported game streaming as it explores introducing the feature to a wide audience.

Xbox shared the details in a new Xbox Wire post. Ad-supported game streaming is available now for Xbox Insiders and allows them to stream select titles from their game library. Ads play at the start of the experience and “do not interrupt the flow of gameplay,” according to Xbox.

The company also reiterated that ad-supported game streaming is completely optional. Users can stream without ads by subscribing to Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox is urging test participants to give their feedback through Xbox Player Voice, the recently launched portal for audience input and suggestions. There’s no timetable for when this feature could be released to the public.
