How to use air vents in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Going up!
by Aidan O'Brien · ShacknewsTraversing the various areas in Hollow Knight: Silksong is a large part of the challenge of the game, but best of all is the feeling of exploring new routes after you return to an area with new skills. This is precisely what happens with the air vents, as you will find them much sooner than you will be able to use them.

How to use air vents in Hollow Knight: Silksong
To use the air vents, you will need to get your hands on a cloak upgrade called the Drifter's Cloak that will allow you to use them to float upwards, unlocking new areas. Make your way to the Far Fields area, and climb up to the area marked by the Hornet icon on the map above. Here, you will find a character called the Seamstress. She will give you a quest to find 25 Spine Cores. You can find a full guide on how to do that here.
Once you have all of them, return to the Seamstress and give her the Spine Cores, and she will give you the Drifter Cloak. From that point on, you can jump into air vents and, by pressing the jump button again, you can zoom upward, propelled by the air vent.
You can also press jump again, even outside of an air vent, and your cloak will billow out, allowing you to gently float and reach all manner of secrets spread through the game.
