Donkey Kong Bananza was developed by the Super Mario Odyssey team

Nintendo has confirmed that the new Donkey Kong game was brought to us by some familiar faces.

Donkey Kong Bananza is the first major post-launch release for the Switch 2, and there’s been plenty of speculation about which internal team at Nintendo is behind it. After attending an early preview of the game, we can confirm that Donkey Kong Bananza was developed by the Super Mario Odyssey team.

A member of the Nintendo Treehouse team confirmed to Shacknews (and several other outlets) at a recent hands-on event for Donkey Kong Bananza that the game was developed by the same internal studio that made Super Mario Odyssey.

Released in 2017, Super Mario Odyssey ushered in the era of the Nintendo Switch and earned rave reviews. It’s still the newest 3D Mario platformer, and now we know exactly what that studio has been up to in recent years.
