Capcom has hit another homerun with Resident Evil Requiem. It’s not just a critical hit with players and reviewers. It’s already a monetary hit, too. Capcom has reported that in the five days since Resident Evil Requiem has been out, it has crossed over five million copies sold.

Capcom reported this impressive accolade on the Resident Evil social media channel today, thanking fans for their support in helping to make Requiem’s launch successful.

“We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the over five million players who braved the horrors of Resident Evil Requiem,” the Resident Evil account posted. “Thank you for 30 years of support.”

It’s a big accomplishment to be sure. The Resident Evil series has seen plenty of success on the backs of successful titles like Resident Evil 7 and most of the remakes (with Resident Evil 4 getting the first Shacknews 10 out of 10). But even Capcom’s most successful previous Resident Evils didn’t put up five million copies sold in five days. The Resident Evil 4 remake took about four months to get there. Resident Evil 5 was the previous fastest-selling game and it took two months to hit five million.

It’s been pretty clear we had something special on our hands with Resident Evil Requiem as Managing Editor David Craddock shared in his review, but so far, Requiem seems to be defying even lofty expectations.
