BTS Footage Reveals Taylor Swift's Deeply Emotional Reaction to Vienna Terror Plot and Southport Stabbing
· Cosmopolitan- Taylor Swift's Eras Tour was severely impacted by two horrible events: a planned terrorist attack (that was thwarted) in Vienna, and a tragic mass stabbing at a Swift-themed dance class in England that left three children dead.
- Taylor's new docuseries, The End of an Era, revealed her deeply emotional reaction to both events.
- Taylor broke down in tears, saying "We've had a series of very violent, scary things happen to the tour."
Taylor Swift's Disney+ docuseries gave fans a glimpse at her emotional and distraught reaction to the planned terrorist attack at her Vienna show, as well as the tragic stabbing during a Swift-themed children's dance class in Southport, England.
Cameras caught up with Taylor ahead of her first show following the cancelled Vienna date, where she said "We're in London at my hotel and basically it's just kind of a weird feeling going into these last five shows in Europe. Because it sort of feels like we've done like 128 shows so far, but this is the first one where I feel like, I don't know, like I'm skating on thin ice or something. We've had a series of very violent, scary things happen to the tour."
She added that they'd "dodged a massacre situation" in Vienna, and broke down talking about the Southport stabbing, saying through tears "There was this horrible attack in Liverpool at this Taylor Swift-themed dance party. And it was little kids that...I have a hard time explaining it."

Taylor also noted that she was meeting the families of Southport victims ahead of her shows, and spoke at length about compartmentalizing her emotions. "I'm gonna meet some of these families tonight and, put on a pop concert you know?" she said. "Gonna be fine, because when I meet them I'm not going to do this. I swear to god. I'm going to be smiling. So any of this gets out of the way before you ever go on stage, you lock it off. Three and a half hours. They don't have to worry about you. It's like you're a pilot flying the plane, and if you were like 'There's turbulence up ahead, I don't know if we're actually going to land in Dallas, I'm gonna try hard, but I don't know if I can figure out how to land through this turbulence.' Everyone on the plane is going to freak out. You just have to have a clam, cool, collected tone of, 'We will be landing in Dallas at 6:05 pm, got a little turbulence up ahead, but it's nothing we haven't seen before, just keep your seatbelts fastened and welcome to The Eras Tour.'"
The meetings with these families took place off camera ahead of shows at Wembley Stadium, but Taylor and her mom, Andrea, were seen leaving one meeting in tears. Once back in her room, Andrea offered her daughter comfort, saying "I know you helped them. I know it doesn't seem like it, but I know you helped them."
The first two episodes of Taylor's docuseries are currently streaming on Disney+.
