Amal Clooney Skipped George Clooney’s Broadway Premiere for a Very Relatable Reason
· CosmopolitanThe opening night of George Clooney's Broadway debut Good Night, and Good Luck attracted A-listers far and wide—from Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Rachel Zegler, to cable news royalty Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell. One person who didn't make it was Amal Clooney, but to be fair, she had the best excuse.
Asked why Amal missed his Broadway premiere, George reportedly told journalists on the red carpet that she was “with the kids.” Amal and George share 7-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, and while Good Night, and Good Luck's opening night was a pretty big deal (it is his Broadway debut after all), it was also on a school night. Priorities!
And before you start worrying that this is a sign of trouble in paradise, just know that a little over a month ago, George was singing Amal's praises in an interview with The New York Times. “I'm proud to be in the same room with her,” he said of his very accomplished, human rights lawyer wife. “I'm proud to be her husband. I'm proud to be the father of kids with her.”

The Oscar-winner reportedly moved his family of four to New York City for the show. During a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he said that the kids “love being here.” He continued, “Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule, because you're working at night and you get to see the kids during the day.”
Oh, and if you see photos of George looking, well, a little off, it's probably because he is so committed to the role, he dyed his signature grey hair brown! “My wife is going to hate it because nothing makes you look older than when an older guy dyes his hair,” he said in an interview with The New York Times. “My kids are going to just laugh at me nonstop.”
It's okay, George. But just know, we'll be happy to see you back rocking your salt-and-pepper look whenever that day comes.
