Spotify's Prompted Playlist feature expands to North America

Last month, Spotify launched its Prompted Playlist feature that gives you greater control over its playlist algorithm, and today the availability of this feature is expanding.

It is now rolling out to Premium subscribers in the US and Canada, following the initial rollout in New Zealand. The feature is still in beta.

With Prompted Playlist, you can describe what you want to listen to using your own words. Think of it as ChatGPT (or Gemini, you get the idea) for music. Once you say what you want, a playlist will be generated based on your prompt. It also takes your listening history into account.

Spotify says this feature lets you "design discovery around exactly what you're in the mood for". You can edit your prompt at any time, or start fresh. You can also choose to have the generated playlist refresh daily or weekly. And in case you're wondering why a specific song was added to the playlist, you will get a quick one-line explanation.

To use this feature, go to Create in Spotify and choose Prompted Playlist. Then simply say what you want to hear.
