‘The Studio’ Makes Emmys History as the Most Awarded Comedy Ever, Seth Rogen Ties for Most Individual Wins in One Night

At the Primetime ceremony, Apple TV+’s “The Studio” won 13 Emmys, breaking the all-time record for most wins for a comedy series, in addition to already breaking the freshman comedy series record. Moreover, Rogen ties the record for most Emmys won by a single individual in one night, joining Moira Demos (2016), Amy Sherman-Palladino (2018) and Dan Levy (2020).

FX’s “The Bear” set the record in 2023, when it took home 10 trophies at the 77th Emmys, including outstanding comedy series and three acting prizes.
On Sunday’s main ceremony, “The Studio” won two awards for Seth Rogen — lead comedy actor and directing for the episode “The Oner” — the latter which he shared with Evan Goldberg. It was the directing win that broke the freshman record, and tying the all time record for any comedy ever.
Later in the evening, it won writing for a comedy series for the pilot episode — “The Promotion” — penned by Rogen, Goldberg, Frida Perez, Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory. In addition to making history for Pérez, the first Latino ever to win comedy writing, the series broke the all-time record.
It closed it out the night with the top prize for outstanding comedy series. Perez is also the first Latina to take home a trophy in the comedy category and only the second Latino ever to win as a producer in any top series race in Emmy history. Currently, only Cuban American Celia D. Costas holds that honor for HBO’s “Angels in America” in 2004.
“The Studio” surged during Night 1 of the Creative Arts ceremony, winning nine awards including guest actor in a comedy series for Bryan Cranston alongside numerous craft and technical categories. Many of the show’s winners used their speeches to thank Sal Saperstein, the fictional studio executive played by Ike Barinholtz who was thanked in the hilarious Golden Globes episode. Other notable victories included casting for a comedy series, cinematography, music supervision, sound editing and sound mixing.
With 23 Emmy nominations, “The Studio” shattered the record for the most noms for a freshman comedy, surpassing the 20 nom benchmark set by “Ted Lasso” in 2021, and tying the record for the most nominated comedy series ever, alongside “The Bear” which broke the record for its second season in 2024.
It’s a banner year for Apple, which garnered the most nominations in the network’s history, in addition to having the most nominated series of the year — psychological drama “Severance,” which netted six prizes on Night 1 of the Creative Arts ceremony.
