‘Zero Day’ Trailer: Robert De Niro Plays a Former President in Netflix’s Cyber Attack Thriller
by Jack Dunn · VarietyNetflix has released the trailer for its new limited series “Zero Day,” which features an ensemble cast of Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Joan Allen, Matthew Modine and Angela Bassett. The six-episode procedural thriller hits the streamer on Feb. 20.
According to an official logline, “Zero Day” follows “Robert De Niro as respected former U.S. President George Mullen, who, as head of the Zero Day Commission, is charged with finding the perpetrators of a devastating cyber attack that has caused chaos around the country and thousands of fatalities. As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.”

In the trailer, we watch as current President Mitchell, played by Bassett, first assigns De Niro’s Geroge Mullen to the Zero Day team. “Congress has authorized a special Zero Day commission, hunting down anyone who aided and embedded this horrific attack,” Mitchell says. “You’re just gonna grab people off the streets without warrants?” Mullen asks. She responds “Actually, you are.”
Co-creators and co-showrunners Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim serve as writers and executive producers for “Zero Day” with Michael S. Schmidt. Lesli Linka Glatter executive produces and directs all six episodes. De Niro and Jonathan Glickman also executive produce.
