‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Soundtrack Tops Charts as ‘Golden’ Marks a Historic Fifth Week at No. 1

The soundtrack’s leading single, Huntr/x’s “Golden,” simultaneously leads the Hot 100 for a fifth week as the longest running No. 1 song by an animated act in chart’s history.
After spending seven nonconsecutive weeks stalled at No. 2, the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack finally ascended to the top spot with 128,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States this week, according to Luminate. The leap to No. 1 follows the release of a deluxe edition on Sept. 5, featuring bonus tracks and the album’s first CD release.

This marks the first soundtrack to top the Billboard 200 since Disney’s “Encanto” ruled for nine nonconsecutive weeks in 2022.
As for Huntr/x — the fictional girl group voiced and performed by EJAE (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and REI AMI (Zoey) — their success is now historic. With “Golden” clocking five weeks atop the Hot 100, they surpass previous animated chart-toppers: The Archies’ “Sugar, Sugar” (1969) and The Chipmunks’ “The Chipmunk Song” (1958), both of which led for four weeks.
The soundtrack scored four songs in the Hot 100’s top 10 for a fourth consecutive week. These tracks include Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” and “Soda Pop,” which each climb one spot, returning to their peak positions at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, while Huntr/x’s “How It’s Done” rises to a new high, inching up to No. 8.
As for the remaining new and soaring titles on the albums chart, Justin Bieber’s “Swag” jumps from No. 17 to No. 4 following its deluxe expansion with 23 additional tracks. Sombr’s “I Barely Know Her” rises to the top 10 for the first time, entering at No. 10.
