‘Clarkson’s Farm’ Season 5 Trailer: Jeremy Clarkson Opens Up About Heart Scare, Helps Birth a Calf and Speaks at a Farmers’ Protest

by · Variety

Jeremy Clarkson opens up about his heart scare in the trailer for Season 5 of “Clarkson’s Farm,” which streams on Prime Video.

The trailer shows an ambulance racing away from Diddly Squat Farm, followed by cell-phone footage of a nurse attaching probes to Clarkson’s chest in a hospital bed as a machine beeps in the background.

He’s then seen explaining to Kaleb Cooper, the farm’s manager: “You’ve got three arteries that feed your heart to keep it pumping. My heart wasn’t getting any blood.” “To be fair, my mother dropped dead of a heart attack at 67,” a woman listening volunteers. “There you go, you see? Cheery news,” Clarkson, who is 65 years old, responds.

But any chance that the former host of motoring shows like “Top Gear” and “The Grand Tour” was going to slow down are dispelled by the rest of the action-packed trailer.

Among his activities is a speaking engagement at a farmers’ protest in London, before which he’s seen explaining that “the doctor told me not to speak, Amazon’s told me not to speak.”

He’s also seen pulling the legs of a calf to help with its birth, and we then see it skipping away happily. But in the next sequence, Clarkson hears devastating news: one of his cow has contracted bovine tuberculosis, and the farm would be shut down. A government inspector is seen telling him: “I’m putting the whole farm under restrictions. The ministry will get in touch with you, and talk through what you can and can’t do.”

The final scene shows Kaleb driving a combine harvester, and radioing Clarkson to tell him that his partner, Taya, has gone into labor with his third child. “Shit, you’ve got to go,” Clarkson says. “No, not yet,” Kaleb replies. “I’ll finish this field quickly.”

Season 5 of “Clarkson’s Farm” returns to Prime Video on June 3.
