‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ Delays 2027 Theatrical Release By 3 Weeks
by Katcy Stephan · VarietySpider-Man fans will have to wait just a little bit longer to go “Beyond the Spider-Verse.” The third film in Sony’s popular web-slinging animated series has shifted its release date back by three weeks, from June 4, 2027 to June 25, 2027.
Studio insiders tell Variety the move was made to capitalize on school-aged moviegoers — 100% of schools in the U.S. will be on summer break by the new date, as opposed to only 65% on June 4. There’s hope the new date will also pay off in international markets.

“Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” is the conclusion to a trilogy that began with 2018’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and continued with 2023’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson serve as directors for “Beyond the Spider-Verse.” The screenplay is written by “Spider-Verse” creators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside David Callaham.
Lord and Miller will also produce with Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg are executive producing while Jessica Berri will serve as co-producer.
At CinemaCon in March, Lord told the audience that the threequel would begin with protagonist Miles Morales as a fugitive on the run from every other spider in the multiverse, and hinted that “Gwen and his other friends may or may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system.”
“Into the Spider-Verse” took home the Oscar for best animated feature at the 91st Academy Awards, and “Across the Spider-Verse” landed a nod in the same category. The first film grossed $384 million globally in addition, while the sequel raked in a mighty $690 million.
Sony also added the animated comedy “Buds” to the schedule for March 12, 2027 from Sony Pictures Animation.
