Jasen Kaplan, ‘Finding Prince Charming’ Contestant and Celebrity Makeup Artist, Dies at 46
by Ethan Shanfeld · VarietyJasen Kaplan, a contestant on the reality dating series “Finding Prince Charming” and a makeup artist for celebrities including Eva Longoria, Cyndi Lauper, Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Osbourne, has died, according to social media posts from friends and clients. He was 46.
Kaplan died on New Year’s Eve in New York City. A cause of death has yet to be revealed.
Kaplan was one of 13 contestants on Logo’s 2016 romance competition “Finding Prince Charming,” which was hosted by NSYNC member Lance Bass. Kaplan was eliminated in the second week of the series, a gay spin on “The Bachelor” franchise that featured ceremonial black ties instead of roses.

Kaplan is also credited as a makeup artist on the 2005 series “Gastineau Girls,” “The Last International Playboy” and the 10th annual TV Land Awards. He was a hair stylist and makeup artist on the 2014 reality series “The Face.”
Frankel wrote a long, heartfelt tribute to Kaplan on Instagram, calling him a “one-of-a-kind gem” who “showed up with humor, heart, and a genuine interest in everyone around him.”
“He made people feel seen, celebrated, and better about themselves. … He was my makeup artist, but also my friend and a constant part of my team,” Frankel wrote. “He always showed up and cheered me on — in life, work, and online. He’s seen me in every form, from fixing broken zippers to making me feel like a supermodel. If you were around him, you were happier.”
“No one is going to have better glam than I do in heaven,” she concluded. “Rest in peace, and enjoy all the caviar and coconut cake.”
Osborne, too, honored Kaplan on Instagram, writing alongside photos of him applying her makeup: “I’m devastated I love you so much … I hope you are at peace now. Life will never be the same without you.”
