by Michaela Zee · VarietyLady Gaga is set to perform at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in May.
The landmark free concert, set to take place on May 3, will be broadcast live on Multishow and TV Globo, starting at 9 p.m. BRT. The show will be open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis for those arriving at Copacabana Beach near the Belmond Copacabana Palace Hotel.
“It’s a great honor to be asked to sing for Rio–for my whole career the fans in Brazil have been part of the lifeblood of the little monsters,” Gaga, who last performed in Brazil in 2012, wrote on X on Friday. “I’ve been dying to come perform for you for years and was heartbroken when I had to cancel years ago because I was hospitalized. Your understanding that I needed that time to heal meant the world to me. I am now coming back and I feel better than ever and am working so hard to make sure this show is one you will never forget. Get ready for MAYHEM on the beach.”

Gaga’s Copacabana Beach performance marks the launch of Todo Mundo no Rio, a new initiative created by Bonus Track and presented by Corona to highlight the impact of entertainment in Rio de Janeiro. Bonus Track — known for organizing events such as Madonna’s “Celebration” tour finale in 2024, the Rolling Stones’ 2006 concert, and all of Paul McCartney’s tours in Brazil since 1990 — is producing the event in partnership with Live Nation.
Copacabana Beach has hosted massive pop spectacles over the years. Last May, Madonna performed a free show to cap off her “Celebration” tour, and the concert drew in approximately 1.6 million attendees. In 2006, The Rolling Stones played for about 1.5 million fans, while Rod Stewart performed in front of roughly 4.2 million attendees for a 1994 New Year’s Eve show.
Gaga is getting ready to drop her seventh studio album, “Mayhem,” on March 7. The album includes previously released singles “Disease,” “Die With a Smile” featuring Bruno Mars and “Abracadabra.”
Before performing in Rio de Janeiro, Gaga will have headlining performances at Coachella on April 11 and 18. The Grammy-winning pop star will also be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award at the 12th annual iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 17.
