Num Kanchai, Weir Sukollawat and Two Popetorn Lead Thai Action-Drama ‘Prasert’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Thai production and marketing outfit Shinesaeng Ad.Venture has forged a strategic partnership with 66cc — formerly known as Distribution Workshop — and Kongkiat Production to launch action-drama film “Prasert,” with the project making its first international market appearance at this year’s Hong Kong FilMart.

Under the sales arrangement, Shinesaeng will handle international rights for Southeast Asia, while 66cc will manage the rest of the world. 66cc, founded by veteran producer Jeffrey Chan, specializes in international sales, feature film development, production, investment and IP licensing, with a focus on diverse local cultures and Asian IP for regional and global audiences.

“Prasert” is directed by Kongkiat Khomsiri, whose credits include “Our House.” The film centers on a car rental company owner who accidentally witnesses a murder, making him and his family targets of a ruthless gang. The cast includes Num Kanchai, Weir Sukollawat and Two Popetorn.

Khomsiri described the project as more than a genre exercise. “‘Prasert’ is not just an action-drama film, but a story we genuinely want audiences to connect with,” the director said. “We have developed the film to deliver both intense situations and a strong emotional core, while offering viewers a meaningful new perspective. I hope ‘Prasert’ will be a film that not only entertains and keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, but also allows them to connect with the characters and truly feel the heart of the story.”

For Shinesaeng, the project marks a continued push to bring Thai films to the wider Asian market, reflecting the company’s view that Thai cinema’s international prospects rest on strong creative fundamentals, from scripting and storytelling to character development and production quality. The partnership is also being positioned as a signal of a broader industry shift in Thailand toward content that prioritizes audience engagement alongside commercial ambition.
