Aimee Lou Wood Denies Claims She’s ‘Relatable’ in ‘SNL U.K.’ Monologue: ‘I Am a Certified, Card-Carrying, Goddamn Weirdo’
by Alex Ritman · VarietyAimee Lou Wood is not relatable, or so the “White Lotus” star claimed in her “SNL U.K.” monologue on Saturday.
The Brit said that word of of her supposed relatability had spread far and wide over the last year and she wanted to show a “different” of herself.
“Ever since I got famous, all I ever hear is how relatable I am, how bubbly I am,” Lou Wood explained. “But I’m here tonight to put those vicious rumors to rest, because, you know what, I’m a freak. I am a weird lady. I’m a Scorpio Moon for God’s sake. I once got a reading from an astrologer, and she said, ‘Sorry.’ That’s how intense my birth chart is.”

Lou Wood then noted that, in a past life, she was British artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman and said she carried a crystal in her bra when she’s flying that protected her so long as the plane didn’t crash.
“Look, I know I may sound just like that fun Mancunian girl you lived in uni halls with, Oh, your cousin’s super sweet partner with the job you can’t quite remember. But I, Amy Lou Wood, am a certified card-carrying goddamn weirdo.”
Many might have thought Lou Wood would have mentioned the “SNL” teeth-controversy, in which the U.S. show came under fire for a sketch last April for a sketch where Sarah Sherman donned a pair of enlarged false teeth. But she addressed this in a promo for the episode earlier in the week.
“Oh my God, I’m so excited. I cannot wait to get started, you know, especially after the whole thing in America with the teeth,” she said in the teaser. “So it’s gonna feel good to just wipe the slate clean.”
Lou Wood is the sixth host of “SNL U.K.” since the U.K. version of the live sketch show launched in April.
