Irish stars count down to Emmy Awards nominations today

Irish stars Colin Farrell, Lola Petticrew, and Nicola Coughlan have been tipped to be among the Primetime Emmy Awards nominees when the shortlist is announced in the US later today.

Farrell is widely seen as the favourite in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for his performance in the Batman spin-off series The Penguin.

He has already won at the IFTAs, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Critics Choice, and Satellite Awards for his work on the series.

IFTA winner Petticrew has been included by pundits as one of the nominees in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for the Troubles drama Say Nothing.

It has been reported that Bridgerton star Coughlan could spring a surprise with a nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category.

The sci-fi office drama Severance, dark comedy Hacks, and teen murder study Adolescence are among the shows that are expected to receive multiple nominations.

The nominees will be announced in a live stream starting at 4.30pm Irish time on the Emmys website and YouTube channel.

The awards will take place on Sunday 14 September at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
