The search for the next James Bond is reportedly entering its final stages, with Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor among the actors expected to undergo screen tests for the role.

The auditions could begin in London as early as Friday and continue into next week, according to Hollywood trade publications.

Deadline reports that at least four actors have been offered screen tests, with Slow Horses star Lowden, Fantastic Beasts actor Turner and The Crown star O’Connor among those expected to take part.

The identity of another potential candidate has not been revealed.

However, Variety says the final line-up remains uncertain, identifying Lowden and Turner as possible contenders.

Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed any of the reported names.

Lowden, who is married to Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, has been linked to the role for several months.

The next Bond film will be directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay.

Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the film, the first in the franchise since Amazon MGM Studios took creative control from longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

Daniel Craig was the last actor to play 007, bowing out after five films with No Time to Die in 2021.

No casting decision or release date has been officially announced.
