Former Love Island contestant Amy Hart has opened up about the less glamorous aspects of life in the villa, sharing some behind-the-scenes insights from her time on the popular TV show.

The 31 year old reality star, who graced the screens in the 2019 series of the ITV2 hit, divulged a number of details to her fans, including how the women deal with their periods during the show.

Amy's revelations came in a video that quickly went viral, amassing over 5 million views, as she responded to a burning question from the audience.

In the video, Amy addressed the curiosity of her followers, saying: "I've had this so many times in all the comments. I don't really understand what you think I'm going to say, like we're segregated in another room, only allowed to wear black bikinis? We just get on with it like you would do if you're on holiday."

Amy also confessed that she tried to change her menstrual cycle by running her "pill packs together" to avoid having a period during filming. She recalled: "Because I didn't want to have a period while I was in there and the doctor was like, 'Yeah, that's not going to work', and I was like, 'It will, it will'."

Despite her efforts, she admitted: "And it did work until it didn't, which was annoying. But yeah, you just get on with it."

In the caption of the video, she clarified: "I understand everyone is different and they'd make allowances I'm sure. I was just talking about my experience and meant we weren't banished."

Another ex-islander disclosed how contestants manage to smoke and vape during their stay in the villa. Ellie Spence, 25, who entered the villa as a bombshell in the 2023 series and was paired with Jordan Odofin, shared that smoking Islanders could only leave the villa at specific times and there would be a "fight" over who got to go.

During an Instagram Q&A session, someone asked Ellie: "Who smoked/vapes in the villa?"

Ellie revealed: "Everyone smoked or vaped. So we would all fight to go out at dinner time or lunch time. You could only really go at those times.

"I used to wake up at breakfast, I was that stressed, I was like 'let me go out for a vape!' You would have to ask and stand by the door. One day I just opened the door. I was so stressed and no-one was replying to me.

"I just opened the door and was like 'I'm going for a vape!' and they were like 'what are you doing?' over the tannoy."
