Love Island's Marcel Somerville admits to 'needing advice' ahead of All-Stars return
by Shivon Watson · Wales OnlineLove Island's Marcel Somerville has opened up about seeking guidance as he gears up for a sensational comeback on the ITV show.
The 39-year-old is poised to become the oldest contestant in Love Island UK history as he joins the 2025 All-Stars spin-off, set to premiere on January 13th on ITV2. Marcel, who left a lasting impression and secured fourth place with ex-partner Gabby Allen during his 2017 appearance, has revealed a shift in his approach for the upcoming series.
Despite being the go-to source of advice in his previous season, Marcel has acknowledged the need for some direction himself, especially after the public end to his marriage with Rebecca Vieira and his past relationship with Gabby.
Speaking to ITV, Marcel shared: "In my series, I was deemed Dr Marcel; I was giving everyone love advice. Since the show, I've gone through a lot of situations in life and in love so I've topped up my knowledge... But I feel like maybe I need to take some advice when it comes to love this time round as well."
Curious about his decision to join the All-Stars edition, Marcel said: "I thought that I'd completed love and found my happily ever after but the universe had a different plan. Somehow every time my life's at a crossroads, I've got the opportunity to do Love Island. So I thought, why not?"
After their short but intense romance in 2017, Gabby and Marcel from Love Island saw an end to their relationship in 2018 following the revelation of Marcel's infidelity, reports OK!.
Fast forward to 2022, Marcel grabbed headlines again after marrying TV star Rebecca Vieira. However, the union crumbled amidst allegations that Rebecca had had an affair with a US pop sensation.
As rumours swirled, Rebecca admitted last year to being unfaithful to Marcel. Amidst the media storm, Marcel told Mail Online: "I've gone through a little bit of a crazy time in my life."
He added, "I'll talk more about it at a later time, as I'm not really ready to talk about what's going on right now. We're working through the situation to get the best outcome that we can."
It is believed that Marcel remains legally bound in marriage but is navigating towards divorce with Rebecca.
Love Island All Stars returns Monday, January 13 on ITV2 at 9pm
