Coleen Rooney's son accidentally revealed her I'm A Celebrity stint at school
by Sara Baalla · Wales OnlineColeen Rooney has disclosed that her son inadvertently revealed confidential details about I'm A Celebrity at his school before her participation in the show was public knowledge.
Speaking on This Morning's couch with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on Thursday (January 16), Coleen reflected on her experience in the ITV reality series. Notably, she secured the runner-up spot on I'm A Celeb in December 2024, just behind McFly's Danny Jones.
In the interview, Ben probed into how Coleen managed to keep her impending appearance under wraps until the official announcement.
"There's that moment when you get asked, but then you have to keep it a secret as well, of course, because the production company wants to keep it a secret," he remarked.
Ben went on to ask: "When did you decide to tell the boys... because you've got little ones and big ones. The big ones probably could have been told and keep a secret, but the little ones must have been too excited, surely?" reports the Manchester Evening News.
Coleen admitted that she initially kept the news to herself, but had to inform her older children after the media began speculating.
"I didn't tell no one but it came out in the newspaper, so obviously people started asking me the questions, so I was just raising my eyebrows saying, 'I can't say anything'," she said. "But the boys, I told the older ones and they were fine with it, but the younger ones overheard.
"We'd watched it as a family for years, and the younger ones would dip in and out because it's late at night. But then they were excited once they knew I was actually going in. My 11-year-old came in from school one day and said, 'Everyone's asking me if you're going in the jungle'."
After enquiring what her son had told his mates, Coleen shared that he simply responded: "I just said yeah she is, and I'm not going with her."
Cat and Ben couldn't contain their laughter, prompting Coleen to joke: "ITV won't be happy about that!"
In another part of the chat, Coleen disclosed how "special" it was to witness the pride in her four children upon her return from Australia. "It's nice that they've really took something away from it and enjoyed it," she reflected.
This Morning airs daily at 10am on ITV and ITVX.
