Gogglebox star still living with ex-husband reveals 'fundamental' reason they split
by Matt Davies · Wales OnlineA Gogglebox personality who remains housemates with his former husband has disclosed the ultimate "problem in the end" that led to their separation.
Daniel Lustig, during an appearance on Best Magazine's Suddenly Single podcast, delved into the details of his split from Stephen Webb, his husband of six years and fellow Gogglebox star.
Daniel, a hairdresser by profession, shared that although they are currently in the process of selling their shared flat, they still "cohabit really well together". He also shed light on the reasons behind their breakup, noting how despite their initial chemistry and subsequent ventures as business partners and "dog dads", their differences became too significant.
He elaborated: "He was complete opposite to me, and we always went, 'Ooh, opposites attract', but fundamentally, that was our problem in the end, that we were so different."
Earlier in the podcast, he discussed their post-breakup arrangement: "We are still living together. We're trying to sell our apartment, so we haven't done that. So we cohabit really well together."
He added: "It (the split) was quite a slow process. For a while, we were still sleeping in the same bed. You know, after we had said we were going to split up, and then when Stephen was on the dating show (Celebs Go Dating), I think we kind of agreed that we would go in separate rooms," reports the Liverpool Echo.
Daniel went on to say they've found a way to work and live together, be business partners and "dog dads". He said: "Fundamentally, I've always said about our relationship; it’s always been about friendship. As soon as we met, we became really good friends.
"As soon as we started dating, I was like, 'Oh, this guy is so different to me', and we just got on so well. We respected each other, although that we came from complete different backgrounds'."
Moreover, Daniel opened up about the dynamics of living with Stephen post-breakup, labelling Stephen as a "nosey parker".
He commented on how Stephen enquires about his whereabouts and sometimes gives unsolicited advice on what to wear, prompting Daniel to remind him that he doesn't "need to know".
