Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson unrecognisable 17 years after final
by Olivia Wheeler · Wales OnlineBritain's Got Talent is back on ITV for its eighteenth series of the hit reality show series.
Understandably, viewers will be reminiscing on the show's previous winners, which include the likes of Diversity, Paul Potts and Sydnie Christmas - to name a few.
One of the show's early winners was George Sampson, who won the second series of the ITV talent show back in 2008 when he was just 14.
George, now 31, impressed the judges with his dancing and he is best known for his choreography to Mint Royale's remix of Singin' in the Rain, complete with an artificial rain machine on-stage.
Seventeen years after the final, George has since pursued a career in acting and also describes himself as a 'gamer/nerd' on his Instagram, which has an impressive 68.9K followers.
Following Britain's Got Talent, George joined Waterloo Road in 2011, where he played Kyle Stack until 2013.
He went on to land a role in Mount Pleasant as Gary, Casualty as Callum Bradley, The Dumping Ground as Danny and he appeared in Emmerdale as Ryan Harred in 2016.
As well as various television roles, George has also been involved in plenty of theatre productions including Everybody's Talking About Jamie, which he starred in as Dean Paxton from 2019 to 2022, with venues including the West End and Los Angeles.
More recently, George appeared in Cinderella as Prince Charming from 2022 to 2023 and Snow White as Prince George in 2023.
As well as George sharing his career highlights with his social media followers, he also shares snippets of his gaming hobby.
Last year, George posted a humorous video captioned: "Can I still swing from a lamppost? #bgt" - a move that won him Britain's Got Talent in 2008.
He said in the clip: "I'm 30-years-old, it's been 16 years, have we still got it in the bag?" to which he successfully pulled off the impressive stunt once again.
Responding in the comments, one person said: "Got it? Never lost it!", a different account wrote: "oh my days, how was this 16 years ago?!", another put: "Blimey has it really been 16 years I was in high school when I he won bgt!" while a different fan added: "16 years!? My god when did I get so old!?"
George also reunited with previous Britain's Got Talent winners, Paul Potts and Sydnie Christmas, earlier this year in February. He penned: "Some trio this!"
Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturday nights on ITV and ITV X.
