ITV Britain's Got Talent fans 'disgusted' as they slam 'wholly inappropriate' act
by Monde Mwitumwa · Wales OnlineBritain's Got Talent fans were left taken aback during the latest episode as one act left them feeling rather uncomfortable.
The popular ITV show returned for a new series on Saturday night (February 22) with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Bruno Tonioli, KSI and Amanda Holden completing the judging panel.
As hosts Ant and Dec navigated the show, viewers were unsure about one performer in particular. Japanese star Akira, known for his energetic performances, took to the stage with a strip tease act that divided opinions.
While some found humour in Akira's nude display, others were less than impressed. One viewer expressed their distaste, writing: "This is actually DISGUSTING." Another questioned: "How is this allowed on telly at this time."
A third commented: "I see ITV will allow naked man act lol," while a fourth added: "'Naked man seen parading around in public with only a tin tray covering himself' would be a wholly inappropriate headline to read, so why is it acceptable when it's on Britain's Got Talent?"
However, some viewers found the act amusing, with one stating: "Britain hasn't got talent it seems!"
Akira, who has a significant online following, has previously faced criticism for his act being too risqué. Responding to previous backlash over his comedic performance, he stated: "I'm aware there's criticism, and that's fine.
"Some people see this naked guy on stage and feel it's inappropriate, which I completely understand.
"Those who watch the whole act, however, realise there's nothing dirty about it. It's just a middle-aged guy with a tray, a bow tie and no other clothes."
Despite vying for the BGT title, which comes with a £250,000 prize and an opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance, Akira already boasts a substantial online fanbase.
Britain's Got Talent airs every Saturday on ITV1 and ITVX
