Pete Wicks' new TV show has him surrounded by dogs at special screening
by Lauren Edwards · Wales OnlineTV personality and animal welfare advocate Pete Wicks is set to star in a new show, For Dogs' Sake, in collaboration with Dogs Trust.
Wicks currently serves as an ambassador for the charity and his new programme will give a behind the scenes look at the rehoming process of rescue dogs.
A special screening was held today at the Dogs Trust centre in Basildon, with Wicks leading guests down the 'red paw-pet'.
During his visit, Wicks spent time with puppies Nigel, Pepper, and Dory, and was joined by his former Strictly partner Jowita Pryzstal who came to show her support.
Viewers will see Pete learn all about the running of Dogs Trust rehoming centres and watch him get involved in helping to weigh newborn puppies, witness life-saving surgery and even make the all-important ‘tea round’ for the hard-working staff.
As well as Basildon, Pete visits the charity’s centres in Harefield West London, Leeds and Ballymena in Northern Ireland.
Expressing his excitement for the project, Wicks said: "Anyone who knows me knows that I prefer animals to people, so this show is a real passion project for me.
"With two rescue dogs of my own, animal welfare is close to my heart, and I am super excited to be teaming up with U&W for this amazing opportunity."
The series will air on U&W and U, providing viewers with behind-the-scenes access to Dogs Trust and sharing the individual stories of the dogs they help.
Helen Nightingale, head of factual and factual entertainment at UKTV, commented: "We'd be barking mad to turn down the opportunity to work with Pete Wicks and witness first hand his passion for dogs and their welfare."
"It's a huge privilege being granted such unique access to Dogs Trust to see how the charity operates."
