ITV Britain's Got Talent fans issue same complaint minutes into new series

The new series of Britain's Got Talent, which aired tonight (February 22), left viewers with a common complaint just minutes into the episode.

This year, regular judges Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and Simon Cowell all returned, with social media star and boxer KSI making his debut on the panel.

The show's opening act, RuMac, an accordion player with a highly unusual voice, performed a rendition of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie originally performed by Baccara.

His act got off to a tense start when he pulled out his accordion, prompting Simon Cowell to say: "Oh no, even worse, an accordion. I hate them."

"I hate them as well," Alesha chimed in as the musician got set up on the stage.

However, he ultimately won over the crowd and the judges with his unique take on the song as Simon said he had "never heard anything like this in my life."

Many viewers at home took to social media to offer their thoughts on the first act of the series with fans left divided. "If I was heavily intoxicated at 3am this would be great, but I'm not," said one show fan. "Which producer went... yeah let's open the show with this!?" another complained.

Not all viewers were disappointed with the act however. Some admitted they had actually seen RuMac live before and he already has a huge online following.

The musician describes himself as a "weird guy", with "weird music", and has around 12,000 followers on Facebook, 3,400 on Instagram and a slightly more modest 284 over on YouTube, reports the Express.

One thrilled viewer gushed: "Seen RuMac live before, several times. He's honestly so fun and never a dull moment. So happy to see him on BGT," while another predicted he would win the series, penning: "Absolutely brilliant! A winner right here now!"

Britain's Got Talent airs every Saturday night on ITV and ITVX
