Lily Allen Rocks an Underboob-Exposing Top on CFDA Red Carpet
· The Fresno BeeLily Allen is in her fashion girl era.
Allen, 40, attended the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards at The American Museum of Natural History in New York City on Monday, November 3, on the heels of releasing her buzzy new album West End Girl, which seemingly references her recent split from estranged husband David Harbour.
The British singer arrived at the event wearing a skin-baring ensemble by Colleen Allen, who was nominated as an emerging designer of the year. Lily's all-white, lingerie-inspired outfit - a long skirt and underboob-exposing bra - made quite the statement. She removed a floor-grazing blouse for photos, and revealed the sheer lace fabric on the back of the skirt that showed off her legs.
Lily kept her accessories minimal, sporting neutral makeup and heels and multiple, dainty gold hoop earrings. Her dark hair was styled in a sleek updo that pushed her signature bangs front and center.
Speaking to The Cuton Monday's white carpet, Lily called her look as both "sick" and "fun, classic - this is everything."
Lily has received a significant amount of positive public feedback since the release of West End Girl in October. She recorded the album in just 10 days in December 2024, the same month that she separated from Harbour, 50, following four years of marriage.
"It's not a cruel album," Lily told Interview magazine last month. "I don't feel like I'm being mean. It was just the feelings I was processing at the time."
She noted, "I feel very differently about the whole situation now. We all go through breakups, and it's always f***ing brutal. But I don't think it's that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you're in it."
Lily downplayed chatter that she made a "revenge album," especially given lyrics in which she appears to address an unfaithful partner, but she insisted, "I don't need revenge."
She explained that she was "really trying to process things, and that's great in terms of the album, but I don't feel confused or angry now."
West End Girl is Lily's first record since 2018's No Shame. Inside that seven-year window, London-born Lily moved to New York City with the Stranger Things actor. They bought a brownstone in Brooklyn (it was featured in a viral Architectural Digest tour), which the exes are now selling for nearly $8 million.
In her new record, Lily sings of spotting a text from "Madeline" in her partner's phone, leading to a confrontation.
"How long has it been going on? Is it just sex or is there emotion?" she asks in a song named after the other woman.
Harbour, for his part, appears to also be moving forward. In an interview withEsquire UK published November 1, he said he hoped that his next 50 years "will be full of more stories that are complex and rich."
He added, "Then, of course, there's personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that."
