Kate Middleton Plays Piano With Daughter Charlotte During Carol Concert

Princess Kate Middleton's annual "Together at Christmas" carol service featured an extra-special performance.

Kate, 43, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 10, opened the concert with a piano rendition of Erl and Cooper's "Holm Sound."

"Love and connection through music 💕," the Princess of Wales captioned footage of the duet via Instagram on Wednesday, December 24.

In the prerecorded clip, Kate and her daughter twinned in navy as they sat side-by-side on a piano bench.

"At its heart, Christmas speaks of love taking form in the simplest, most human ways," Kate narrated over the video. "Not in sentimental or in grand gestures, but gentle ones. A moment of listening, a word of comfort, a friendly conversation, a helping hand [or] presence. These simple acts of care might seem small, but they contribute to the beautiful tapestry to which we all belong."

She continued, "Christmas is a time that reminds us how deeply our lives are woven together just as the roots of trees share strength between the soil, unseen but vital. We are drawn to an instinctive pull toward belonging and connection. At a time where life can sometimes feel fragmented or uncertain, the Christmas season invites us to remember the power of reaching out to one another."

The annual holiday service, which Kate has organized for several years, was held at London's Westminster Abbey on December 5. The princess was joined by her husband, Prince William, and their three children for the occasion. (In addition to Charlotte, the couple also share sons Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 7.)

"With generosity of heart, understanding and hope, this carol service offers a moment of collective togetherness," Kate concluded in her voiceover message. "[It is] a chance to celebrate the spirit of community and service, and to honor the visible and the invisible bonds that unite us all. The time, care and compassion you give often quietly and unspoken … make an extraordinary difference to the lives of others."

This year's service is not the first time that Kate has shown off her dazzling musical abilities. She previously played the piano during the 2021 carol service and in a May 2023 video with former Eurovision Song Contest winnerKalush.

Kate had previously taken piano lessons as a child.

"Kate came for lessons when she was about 10 or 11, until she was 13, about 1993 to 1995," her former instructor, Daniel Nicholls, told the Evening Standard in 2012. "She was absolutely lovely, a really delightful person to teach the piano. … I don't think anyone would say she was going to be a concert pianist, but she was good at it, she always did everything she was told."

Charlotte, for her part, has started following into her mom's artistic footsteps.

"Charlotte is sharp and bright as a button," a source exclusively told Us Weekly in 2022, nothing the young princess "loves acrobats and is very into the arts and acting."

The insider added, "Whenever she gets a chance, she'll put on a performance!"
