Lady Gaga Dances With Her VMAs at MSG After Making Quick Exit for Concert
· The Fresno BeeLady Gaga's concert cut her MTV Video Music Awards appearance short on Sunday, September 7, but she made sure her fans got a taste of her victory.
During her Mayhem Ball performance at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, the pop star, 39, incorporated her new Moon Person trophies into the segment of the show where she dances in a shallow grave. In fan footage from the show, Gaga placed the three statuettes above her as she sang "Perfect Celebrity" alongside a skeleton.
"NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR MY 3 TIME VMA WINNER," one fan wrote via X, captioning a video of the moment.
Gaga ultimately took home four awards on Sunday, winning Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration for "Die With a Smile" with Bruno Mars and Best Art Direction and Best Direction for "Abracadabra." She was the most awarded artist of the night, beating out Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter, who each took home three prizes.
Gaga put in a quick appearance at the awards show, accepting her trophy for Artist of the Year in person before heading across the river to perform the final MSG date of her Mayhem Ball tour.

"I thought about what it means to be rewarded for being an artist, being rewarded for something that is already so rewarding," the Grammy winner said in her speech. "Being an artist is an attempt to connect the souls of people all over the world. Being an artist is a discipline, a craft meant for reaching into someone's heart, where it grows its roots, and reminding them to dream."
She added, "Being an artist is a responsibility to make the audience smile, dance, cry and release at any turn. It is a method of building understanding and celebrating community."
Before noting that she had to leave early to go to MSG, Gaga dedicated her win to her fiancé, Michael Polansky.
"Thank you Little Monsters, my fans, for always supporting me and always supporting the monster in me and to my partner in all things, Michael," she said. "Creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream, and you have been my partner every step of the way. I dedicate this to you, my love."
Later in the show, viewers saw a pretaped performance by Gaga featuring "Abracadabra" and the first-ever televised rendition of "The Dead Dance," her new song from Netflix's Wednesday. The performance was filmed during her Saturday, September 6, concert at MSG.
