The Traitors' Maura Higgins Details Why She's Been ‘Celibate'

The Traitors star Maura Higgins got candid about her love life.

Higgins, 35, opened up to Elite Daily about what led her to be celibate in an article published on Friday, February 27. While reflecting on how fellowLove Island contestant Rob Rausch tricked her in the show's season 4 finale, Higgins explained, "I don't trust men anyway. If I wasn't used to that kind of guy, I reckon I would've been crying, storming out, never speaking to him again."

She continued, "But I've already got severe trust issues. I've been cheated on by the majority of my exes - that's the reason I've been celibate for a whole year."

Higgins previously accused one of her exes, Pete Wicks, of cheating on her in February 2025. On Valentine's Day, a photographer asked her where Wicks, 37, was, to which she replied, "Probably cheating."

The following day, Higgins posted a pic of Whitney Houston singing "Where Do Broken Hearts Go?" seemingly hinting at where she stood with Wicks.

Now, Maura is single, which she clarified at The Traitors reunion. She also told Elite Daily that she isn't angry with Raush, 27, because he promised to buy her a gift with his prize money from the show.

"I wish I could bring ‘Maura Higgins energy' and absolutely annihilate him, but I'm not angry," she shared. "He felt bad at the final, and told me he would get me a present at the reunion. I said to him, ‘I will accept nothing less than a Birkin handbag.' I deserve that. He wouldn't have won without me." (Rausch convinced Higgins that he was a Faithful with her, just to come out as a Traitor and pocket the money for himself.)

At the reunion, Rausch shared that he's planning to spend some of his $220,800 on "a Birkin" for Higgins.

Higgins also exclusively told Us Weekly that she's not taking Rausch's role as a Traitor "to heart."

"It's not real life to me - he was chosen as a Traitor. He's not allowed to tell anyone, and he played an incredible game, so I can't be mad at that," she told Us. "I can only be mad at myself for trusting the wrong person."

She added, "He told me he's going to get me a gift, which is going to be a Birkin handbag. So when he gets that, then he's fully forgiven."

Rausch, meanwhile, confirmed to Us that he's working on purchasing the Hermès bag. "That is in the works. I'm in cahoots with Lisa [Rinna]. She said she could probably get my foot in the door so I can buy one," he said, noting that Birkin bags can only be bought from Hermès by having a relationship with a sales associate, which often involves purchasing other items in advance. "It's proving way more difficult than I thought it would be."

Rausch also pointed out that while he was single and "flirting" with Higgins in the castle, he now has a girlfriend.
