Jaime King Shares Taylor Swift Friendship Update After Son's Wedding Absence

· The Fresno Bee

Hart of Dixie alum Jaime King is revealing where her friendship with Taylor Swift stands after her 10-year-old son Leo was seemingly absent from his godmother's star-studded nuptials to Travis Kelce.

"The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames's godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances," a rep for King, 47, tells Us Weekly in a statement. "Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Travis's marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break."

Page Sixwas first to report the news.

After King and ex-husband Kyle Newman welcomed son Leo in 2015, the then-couple enlisted Swift, 36, to be his godmother. (King and Newman, 50, are also parents of son James, who was born in 2013.)

"She's amazing. She's great!" King exclusively told Usin December 2016 of Swift. "As she is with everybody around her."

Swift later married Kelce, 36, on Friday, July 3, in a grand-yet-intimate ceremony held inside New York City's Madison Square Garden arena. It is not known whether King herself was present, though the actress has long championed Swift's romance with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.

"I'm f***ing stoked," King told Us in November 2025, months after Kelce popped the question. "Like, this is absolutely, this is the person. This is her person. Yeah, I'm so happy."

Swift and Kelce have been together since 2023, three years before their big day earlier this month.

"The whole night felt really intimate and personal despite being in an arena and how star-studded the guest list was," one source exclusively told Us of the ceremony. "There were about 1,000 guests there, but it felt intimate."

Per the insider, Kelce and Swift transformed MSG into an enchanted garden with light peach drapery, coordinating floral arrangements, greenery, candles and decked out the venue with framed photos chronicling the duo's romance.

"They transformed the venue into an elegant and unique wedding experience that reflected both their personalities," a second insider told Us. "It was decorated elegantly, incorporating their down-to-earth style mixed in."

In addition, the newlyweds each wore white, bespoke Christian Dior haute couture for the occasion.

"It was a joy to work with her," Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson later gushed to Women's Wear Daily. "We became very good friends. It's an emotional thing doing someone's wedding."
