Sony blunder reveals Stellar Blade's PC launch date early
Stellar Blade's PC port finally gets a confirmed launch date, and its arrival on Steam and the Epic Games Store is just around the corner.
by Jamie Hore · PCGamesNForget all the controversy that surrounded it for a moment – Stellar Blade was one of the biggest games of last year. It was by no means a boundary-pushing project in the gameplay department, but it was a visually stunning and narratively solid action game that also flew off of the shelves. A sore spot though is that it's only been available on the PS5 – efforts to bring Stellar Blade to PC were announced a while ago, but we're still yet to see it arrive on platforms like Steam. However, the wait is almost over. Thanks to a trailer that was mistakenly uploaded to the official Playstation YouTube channel, we now know exactly when the game's PC port is dropping – and there really isn't that much longer to wait now.
We've known for a little while that Stellar Blade PC release date would arrive in June. Developer Shift Up revealed as much when it showed off a flashy trailer for the incredibly predictable crossover between Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory Nikke, another one of the studio's games. The exact date, though, has remained a mystery, and with the clock ticking down to that launch window, I've been wondering if it might have been pushed back.
There's a real appetite for Stellar Blade on PC platforms – even though it reached millions of players already on PS5 and is a title people have known about for ages, it's comfortably inside the top 40 most wishlisted games on Steam. While Playstation-backed single-player games tend not to launch on PC at the same time as Sony's consoles, the wait of over a year since its April 2024 launch has been a long one.
However, the new trailer, which was posted and then quickly deleted by Sony on the official Playstation YouTube account, finally confirms the date for Stellar Blade's PC version, as well as details about some of the extra content it'll include.
Stellar Blade is launching on PC on Wednesday, June 11, according to the trailer. It'll be available through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The trailer also confirms that this port will have an uncapped frame rate, AI frame upscaling, higher resolution textures, support for ultrawide monitors, and support for DualSense controller features if that's your PC controller of choice.
There's going to be additional content as well, with Japanese and Chinese voiceover dubs, 25 new outfits for Eve, and an all-new boss battle with Mann, the leader of the Sentinels.
So, if you've been desperate for Stellar Blade to hit Steam or Epic, your wait is almost over. However, you've got enough time to squeeze in one or two of the best action games and best RPGs while you wait.
