May 6 (UPI) -- Prime Video is giving a glimpse of the new series Elle.

The streaming service shared a teaser trailer for the coming-of-age comedy-drama Wednesday featuring Lexi Minetree as a young Elle Woods.

Elle serves as a prequel to the 2001 film Legally Blonde, which starred Reese Witherspoon as Elle, a Los Angeles sorority girl-turned-Harvard Law School student.

In the prequel series, Elle (Minetree) is a high schooler whose life is turned upside down when her family moves from glamorous Bel-Air to Seattle, where she "encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices."

"Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone, and forms an even tighter bond to her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other. With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today," an official synopsis reads.

The cast includes June Diane Raphael as Elle's mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt, along with Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz.

Elle is created by Laura Kittrell, with Witherspoon among the executive producers. The series premieres July 1 on Prime Video and has already been renewed for a second season.
