Rob Mac, Noah Hawley creating 'Far Cry' series for Hulu
by Fred Topel · UPINov. 24 (UPI) -- FX announced Monday it has ordered a series based on the video game Far Cry. Rob Mac and Noah Hawley are executive producers.
The series will be an anthology like Hawley's Fargo, with a different cast each season. Mac will star in the first season.
FX recently renewed its deal with Hawley, who is producing Alien: Earth for the network. Mac also co-created It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Welcome to Wrexham for FX.
"Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized," Mac said in a statement. "Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created."
Hawley said he responded to the anthology nature of the video game series.
"Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme," Hawley said in a statement, adding that the goal is "to create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens."
Hulu will air Far Cry in the U.S. and Disney+ will internationally. Both FX and Hulu are components of Disney since the 2019 merger with 20th Century Fox.
