Hollyoaks legend Diane Langton dies aged 77 as tribute flood in

Actress Diane Langton has passed away at the age of 77. The esteemed actress was celebrated for her roles in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and Only Fools and Horses.

She was also part of the Carry On franchise. Her agent confirmed the sad news this morning with a short statement.

It read: "I am sad to say that Diane Langton passed away this morning." No cause of death has yet been shared for the beloved star.

Tributes have started to be paid online to the star. One fan wrote: "An absolute icon! rest in peace diane langton."

Another wrote: ""This week has been so terrible for losing our theatre stars. Tony Slattery, Linda Nolan and now Diane Langton. Each and everyone will be so missed by many. Sincere condolences to family & friends of them all. R.I.P. and fly high Tony, Linda and Diane."

Another added: "rip diane langton." Diane was born in Somerset, and started her career on the stage as a dancer, theatre actress and singer, having appeared in the West End, in A Chorus Line, Pippin, I'm Getting My Act Together, A Little Night Music, Chicago and Mary Poppins.

Her career has spanned decades, beginning with her notable part in Carry On Teacher in 1959 and including the TV series Carry On Laughing. Langton was also known for her role as June Snell in the beloved BBC sitcom Only Fools and Horses, where she featured in two episodes during the 1980s as a former girlfriend of Del Boy.

Additionally, she graced the screen in EastEnders as Bev Williams before taking on the role of Marlena 'Nana' McQueen in Channel 4's Hollyoaks from 2007. After initially departing in 2009, she made a comeback in 2012.

Ffollowing another exit in 2023, she had recently returned to the show.
