Michelle Keegan dealt major blow as beloved TV show is cancelled
by Katy Hallam, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/katy-hallam/ · Birmingham LiveMichelle Keegan has been dealt a blow after it was announced that her Sky show Brassic has been cancelled. The beloved comedy series about a group of wayward youths striving to get by in a northern town has run for six years and its next series will be its last.
Michelle, who recently shared the joyous news she is expecting her first baby with husband Mark Wright, stars alongside Joe Gilgun in the popular series that first graced our screens in 2019. With the final series already in production and expected to be released later this year, fans are preparing to bid farewell to their favourite characters, The Sun reports.
Brassic's co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst expressed his gratitude for the journey: "When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn't have imagined, in our wildest dreams, that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base. It's been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA."

Michelle, known for her former role as Tina McIntyre in ITV's ' Coronation Street ' and as a female army medic in the BBC 's military drama 'Our Girl,' continues to captivate audiences. Audiences can anticipate seeing her soon in the second series of the period drama 'Ten Pound Poms' on BBC One, also penned by Brocklehurst, while waiting for confirmation of a potential third series.
Although discussions about new projects with Netflix, where Michelle starred in the hit series Fool Me Once, have not resulted in any concrete deals, Sky maintains that the conclusion of Brassic is an entirely positive development.
A spokesperson expressed gratitude, stating: "Fans very quickly became attached to this dynamic group of friends, as they found unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia. We would like to thank Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst and the whole cast and crew – past and present – for bringing us all a truly iconic series, which we’ve loved for its special mix of hilarity and heart."
