by · Birmingham Live

Actor Warwick Davis is reportedly taking legal action against a London hospital, alleging medical negligence following the death of his wife Samantha. Samantha Davis passed away last year at the age of 53 on March 24 last year.

Samatha tragically passed away following a tough battle with sepsis, meningitis and Strep B infections. Warwick has reportedly engaged law firm Irwin Mitchell to represent his family in the wake of her death, with specialist medical negligence solicitor Madeline Nugent working alongside them.

An inquest into Samantha's death was scheduled for today, with coroner Mrs Jean Harkin stating it would provide answers. Mr Davis and their daughter Annabelle were expected to participate in the proceedings. However, the hearing was postponed before any evidence could be presented due to Warwick being unable to attend.

Samatha, who was also an actress and appeared in Harry Potter and Willow, and Warwick shared two children, Harrison and Annabelle. In a touching tribute following her death, Warwick shared: "Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs."

He added: "She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes." He continued: "With her by my side, I was sure I could achieve anything, it was like having a super-power," Warwick continued.

"Without Sammy, there would have been no Tenable quiz show, no Willow series. No Idiot Abroad Series 3. She was passionate about helping people, without judgment. She had time for everyone and a genuine listening ear."

Their children Harrison and Annabelle also honoured their late mother, stating that her "love and happiness carried us through our whole lives. Mum is our best friend and we're honoured to have received a love like hers," they added.

Samantha, born Samantha D. Burroughs on January 30, 1971, who lived with achondroplasia—a condition leading to disproportionate dwarfism— heartbreakingly revealed she had accepted she was going to die after being rushed to hospital six years before her death.

Back in 2018, Sammy courageously opened up about her struggle with the trio of infections she contracted after a spinal surgery. She confessed her fear that she was "going to die", admitting: "For four days I cried, 'I don't want to die,' I was absolutely sobbing. On the fifth day I thought, 'I'm gonna die and can't do anything about it.'".
