BBC Breakfast star takes swipe at Naga Munchetty as he brands her 'vicious'
by Samantha King, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/samantha-king/ · Birmingham LiveBBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty was quick to turn her back on her co-host after he took a swipe at her during this morning's show (December 21).
Naga was hosting the episode alongside Ben Thompson, with the pair discussing a segment that had just aired about Wham's Last Christmas achieving Christmas number one 40 years after its release.
As talk veered towards the weather, Naga had some sad news for viewers. "I hate to burst someone's bubble, but no white Christmas this year," she said looking crestfallen, as Ben explained there would be "No snowball fights."
Things took a turn as when Ben decided to take a cheeky swipe at his co-host, branding Naga 'vicious'.
"I think you would be really vicious in a snowball fight," he said as Naga visibly puckered her expression, turning away from Ben as she retorted, "I don't know what you mean," while both shared a laugh.
Naga repeated "I don't know what you mean," this time with an elevated tone, before quickly introducing the weather forecast. Meanwhile, Ben pretended to throw a snowball while her back was turned, reports the Express.
Breaking the tension, Naga revealed that December 21 topped her list of favourite days since it marked the Winter Solstice. Yet, as weatherman Simon King dove into his segment, Naga swiftly interjected with a clarification.
"You know the pedants get in touch," she said, before adding: "It's not the shortest day."
Simon was quick to respond, clarifying to viewers: "Oh yes, shortest amount of daylight," as Naga nodded in agreement. He then elaborated on the varying daylight hours across regions.
"About eight hours of daylight in south west of England, but yes from today, very gradually to start off with, only by a few seconds, tomorrow will be day-length, a little bit longer".
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am
