A BBC Breakfast star has slammed "vicious" Naga Munchetty in their final appearance on the show before Christmas. BBC star Ben Thompson made a cutting remark to Naga as they returned to the air from 6am til 9am on Saturday (December 21).

Ben and Naga discussed Wham's Last Christmas reaching Christmas number one in 2024 - four decades after its initial release. "I hate to burst someone's bubble, but no white Christmas this year," Naga said, as they addressed the feat.

Ben warned: "No snowball fights." He commented: "I think you would be really vicious in a snowball fight." Naga looked offended by the cruel barb, saying in an exaggerated tone: "I don't know what you mean. I don't know what you mean."

She then cut to weatherman Simon King, saying: "You know the pedants get in touch. It's not the shortest day." The meteorologist replied and nodded, saying: "Oh yes, shortest amount of daylight," as Naga - who typically hosts with Charlie Stayt - agreed.

"About eight hours of daylight in south west of England, but yes from today, very gradually to start off with, only by a few seconds, tomorrow will be day-length, a little bit longer," Simon then told the BBC presenter and star.

Discussing Wham's success, Andrew Ridgeley, who was one half of Wham! alongside the late George Michael, celebrated by saying: “Thirty seven years to get to No 1, 39 years to Christmas No 1, and then like London buses they all come along at once!

"I’m especially pleased for George, he would have been utterly delighted, his fabulous Christmas composition has become such a classic, almost as much a part of Christmas as mince pies, turkey and pigs in blankets.”

At No 4 is Tom Grennan with a new song, It Can’t Be Christmas, part of Amazon’s push to dominate the Christmas charts.
