Samsung Galaxy AI: 5 brand-new features that I can’t wait to try

Galaxy AI is getting even better

by · Tech Advisor

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is here and, surprise surprise, AI is at the forefront.

The Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra all boast an extensive range of artificial intelligence, going far beyond what was possible on last year’s S24 phones

With the introduction of One UI 7 (based on Android 15), Samsung is taking Galaxy AI to the next level. And I, for one, am very excited about the prospect of these features being available on my phone.

Pre-order the Galaxy S25 at Samsung and find out what the best S25 deals are.

Change the way you search

There are more ways to search than ever before, but most of us still resort to good old-fashioned typing. While fine for browsing the web (I prefer voice search), it’s not well suited to identifying stuff that’s actually on your phone.

Google’s Circle to Search feature has already made that easier by letting you perform a visual search on anything that pops up on your screen. But it was limited to stills, while the new enhanced version can also find out more about any video you’re watching or audio that you’re listening to.

AI Select extends this by suggesting actions based on what you see on the screen. These include the ability to use what’s there to create AI-generated GIFs or videos.

Context-aware AI

A common frustration with AI on phones is its inability to simplify the mundane tasks that we do every day. I can’t tell you how often I still rely on copy and paste to move information between apps, which feels very clunky.

Fortunately, Galaxy AI’s Action Clicks simplifies the process. Any time you tap on an address, date or phone number, regardless of where you find it, you’ll be able to directly open the relevant app. And unlike copy and paste, this isn’t limited to just text.

Make searching a breeze

Action Clicks works in tandem with Cross-App Actions, which can find key information stored on your phone and then make sure it’s added to the most appropriate place. I’m talking details of an event added to your calendar or a text message and restaurant details surfaced instantly.

The feature also works with videos, meaning you can easily add an AI-generated summary to your notes app.

As someone whose files, notes and image gallery are a chaotic mess, this could be a game-changer for me.

Keep me on track

As a tech journalist, I often have a lot of busy days, especially when on a trip. That means it can be easy to lose track of appointments or forget about an item on my to-do list.

Samsung’s Personalized AI should be able to help. In addition to the common morning briefing, it can also deliver one at midday and in the evening, ensuring you’re regularly reminded of what’s relevant at that time.

For specific events, Event Brief will surface key information right when you need it. We’re talking boarding passes and terminals for flights, traffic updates or just simple reminders.

Then, at the end of the day, Daily Recap offers up steps and key events from the day, plus any photos or videos you’ve taken.

I’m not a huge fan of notifications, but it feels as though these could be genuinely useful.

Get AI to do it for you

Flagship phones in 2024 already had loads of AI features, but they weren’t always obvious. Even as someone who covers phones for a living, I had a hard time finding and enabling some Galaxy AI features.

But that looks set to be a thing of the past. With the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung has introduced what it’s calling ‘human-like AI agents’. These should make it easy to find and make full use of AI features, but also feel more natural and conversational when you’re speaking to it.

It remains to be seen how this will compare to Google’s Gemini Live,  which is good for conversations but isn’t able to carry out all AI tasks on Pixel phones.

Alongside all the previous Galaxy AI features, it makes the Galaxy S25 series phones some of the most well-equipped AI handsets around.

But will that be enough to justify your upgrade? Look out for our full reviews soon to find out.
