Spider-Man Is Rocking a Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the Brand New Day Trailer, Not a Sony Phone

by · Android Headlines

Movies and TV shows are financed in all sorts of ways. Sometimes, this is achieved through product placement. As it turns out, Samsung managed to land themselves a pretty sweet spot in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. This is because a Galaxy Z Flip phone was being used by none other than Spider-Man himself in the movie’s trailer.

Spider-Man’s new phone: Galaxy Z Flip in Brand New Day

At the start of the trailer, we get a shot of an unmasked Spider-Man hanging upside down on a construction beam with a Galaxy Z Flip in his hand. It is unclear which model he’s using, but it’s a safe bet that it’s the Galaxy Z Flip 7. This is, after all, the latest flip foldable from Samsung, unless they decided to give Spider-Man the Flip 8.

However, that seems a bit unlikely, given actor Tom Holland’s penchant for accidentally spoiling the movies he’s in. But like we said, it’s a bit hard to tell from the trailer alone. But it’s most definitely a Galaxy Z Flip model. It’s not that surprising that Samsung managed to land itself a product placement spot in the movie.

Yes, the upcoming Spider-Man movie is a collaboration between Sony and Marvel. You would think that Sony would use that opportunity to market its own phones. However, seeing as how Sony’s mobile efforts have taken a bit of a backseat over the years, it left the spot wide open.

We have seen Sony phones prominently featured in movies in the past. This includes the James Bond movie, Skyfall. However, even then, it’s not a guarantee. For the James Bond Spectre movie, Sony reportedly offered $18 million in marketing commitment and $5 million to actor Daniel Craig. However, that offer was turned down.

What’s next for the Galaxy Z Flip?

While it is highly unlikely the phone in the movie is the Galaxy Z Flip 8, we’re sure that some of you are probably curious as to what’s next. So far, according to the rumors, one of the main changes to the Flip 8 is its thickness. The rumors claim that Samsung might slim it down a bit.

However, beyond that, we aren’t expecting any major changes. Recent battery and camera leaks suggest that things could remain the same as its predecessor. It’s not really a bad thing, but it makes it harder to justify for users looking to upgrade. In the meantime, if you’re more excited for Spider-Man: Brand New Day than for the Flip 8, the movie is set to be released on July 31.
