Sounds Like Amazon's Tomb Raider TV Show in Jeopardy as It's Reported 'Dead'
Game over?
by Stephen Tailby · Push SquareAmazon's big Tomb Raider TV adaptation is apparently in trouble.
As reported by Daily Mail, the show, which picked up Phoebe Waller-Bridge as writer and is rumoured to star Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner, is "dead", according to the outlet's sources.
The report says the show has been stuck in development hell, with scripts from Waller-Bridge either failing to emerge or not ready for filming.
Turner, who was apparently set to play the lead role as Lara Croft, is tied up in other projects for much of 2025.
To top it all off, Jennifer Salke, who green lit the Tomb Raider adaptation and was "personally overseeing the project", is no longer head of Amazon Studios.
"I hear that it is not going ahead," one source claims. The show "still doesn't have a script", according to Puck scribe Matt Belloni.
It all sounds pretty messy, doesn't it? With the lead writer seemingly not producing the goods and the show's star unable to commit, Tomb Raider's splashy Amazon show could well be in jeopardy.
Hopefully some sort of official word comes out about the show soon; it would be a shame if it all went down the drain.
