'It's Like Cultural Preservation': Persona Producer Mentions Persona 1 and 2 Remakes Yet Again

At this point Atlus might as well just officially announce that remakes or remasters of the original Persona and Persona 2 are in the pipeline, because series producer Kazuhisa Wada apparently can't stop acknowledging them.

This time, the talkative boss didn't even have to be asked about them directly. In an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, Wada brings them up when simply discussing re-releases in general.

"For me, I think a remaster or remake is some kind of cultural preservation," he states.

"As a creator, it’s your duty to take the things you’ve done and make sure they’re not lost, and are still around in the modern day. From that same perspective, Persona 1 and 2 are something we’ll probably eventually do too."

While it's obviously not concrete confirmation of such projects, it's like I mentioned — this isn't the first time Wada's spoken about potentially reviving the old games.

Just last month, he went on record saying, "I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it." If nothing else, this guy is well up for the challenge.

But let's be real, Atlus wouldn't make something like this official until its schedule is clear. So with Persona 4 Revival launching on the 18th February, it'll be at least half a year or so until we get any kind of announcement. And that's not even considering the looming giant that is Persona 6.
