Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce latest Netflix project
· GOSS.iePrince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced their latest Netflix project, and this time they’re entering rom-com territory.
According to Deadline, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will produce an upcoming adaptation of the book The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory for the streaming platform.
The novel is being adapted by Tracy Oliver, who became the first Black woman to write a film that grossed over $100 million at the global box office with Girls Trip in 2017.
Meghan, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, are producing the project under their company, Archewell Productions, alongside Tracy Ryerson,.
The Wedding Date was published in 2018, and is the first in a six-book series.
A log line for the book reads: “A groomsman and his last-minute guest are about to discover if a fake date can go the distance in a fun and flirty debut novel.
“Agreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn’t normally do. But there’s something about Drew Nichols that’s too hard to resist.”
The news comes after Meghan and Harry announced that they had extended their creative partnership with Netflix back in August.
At the time, Meghan said in a statement: “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand.
“My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
The couple have produced several projects for the streamer since 2020 – including their own docuseries Meghan & Harry in 2022 – which remains Netflix’s most-watched documentary debut to date.
Meghan also released season two of her lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, in 2025.
