Filming for Love Island: All Stars has been postponed, just days before the series is scheduled to begin.

The third series of Love Island: All Stars – which sees host Maya Jama welcoming a cast of former Islanders back to the villa for a second shot at love – is set to premiere on January 12.

However, filming for series three has already been thrown into disarray, as the show’s production site has been evacuated due to South African wildfires.

According to The Mirror, filming for All Stars series three was scheduled to begin on Saturday with the original cast lineup arriving into the villa.

A wildfire unexpectedly broke out near the area and caused a road closure en route to the villa in South Africa, meaning that the site was evacuated and production has been put on pause as a precaution.

A source told The Mirror that production in series three has now become a “nightmare”.

They continued: “It’s left the team scrambling to arrange alternative options on what’s the most difficult day in terms of logistics for the crew – it’s called the ‘get in’ day and they need to make sure everything is running on time and that the islanders don’t get a glimpse of each other before arriving at the villa.”

The source explained further: “The filming for their arrivals/meetings take hours. Safety is priority though and they have plans in place for such situations. But not ideal given the show hasn’t even begun.”

The insider added: “The edit team will now have half the amount of time to put together Monday night’s episode because of the delay in filming.”

An official spokesperson for Love Island also told the publication: “Owing to an ongoing wild fire in the area, we have evacuated the Love Island production site as a precautionary measure.”

The wildfires have spread across South Africa’s Western and Eastern Cape, fuelled by strong winds and high temperatures.

On Friday, the local fire service released a statement to say that progress had been made overnight to tame the fires in some areas, but that wildfires in Langrug and Franschhoek areas in the Boland were still “out of control”.

The third series of Love Island: All Stars is still scheduled to begin on January 12 on ITV2.
